Redmi Note 9 Series Launching In India On March 12

While the smartphone market has seen the entrance of new phones with guns blazing, Redmi & Xiaomi has been surprisingly quiet. Apart from the launch of the Redmi 8A Dual, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer hasn’t released any other smartphone in the last few months. But that’s changing now. The Redmi Note 9 series is launching in India on March 12, only a week after Realme announces its Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro.

The launch of the Note 9 series was confirmed by a tweet from Xiaomi VP Manu Kumar Jain, shortly after Redmi’s brand ambassador Ranveer Singh teased about the impending launch.

The teaser shared by Manu shows the presence of four cameras that are placed in a box as we’ve seen on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Although, the two cameras that are placed at the top in the teaser seem to be a part of a hole-punch setup.

Apart from the teaser, there’s not a lot we know about the upcoming series. But Manu recently confirmed that they’ll soon launch the first Snapdragon 720G phones in the country that will have support for ISRO’s NavIC navigation technology. We can expect one of the Redmi Note 9 phones to make use of this processor.

Redmi has also set up a microsite that sets the branding tone for the Redmi Note 9. The microsite claims the phone to have a “beast” camera, a “beast” design, a “beast” processor, “beast” charging, and “beast” gaming. Make what you can of it.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro that was launched in October last year was the first phone in a while to not use a Snapdragon processor. Instead, it made use of the MediaTek Helio G90T that did a surprisingly good job. The Redmi Note 8, on the other hand, made use of the Snapdragon 665 SoC.

Expect Redmi to reveal more information in the days leading to the launch.
