Snapchat Is Testing A Design Overhaul That Introduces A Navigation Bar
The last time Snapchat decided to redesign its application, three years ago, things didn’t work out quite well. Although Snapchat rolled back the most disliked changes quite soon and has since worked to increase user engagement. But now, “to streamline navigation”, Snapchat is testing out a new UI for Android and iOS that brings in a navigation bar to make it easy to switch between different tabs. Not only this, but Snapchat is also looking to inject breaking headlines inside the application.
For the longest time, Snapchat has had three major screens. The app opens up with a camera screen, to the left sits chats, while on the right sits the Discover page. This new change in design adds a couple more, taking the total to 5.
The new Snapchat design has 5 screens:
- Snap Map: The Snap Map that was a swipe down away now gets its own dedicated tab on the all-new navigation bar.
- Chats: This is your regular chats screen from where you can send messages to your friends.
- Camera: This is by default the screen that the app opens up to. If you’ve ever used Snapchat, I needn’t tell you more about it!
- Community: The Discover tab that we know it as now, has now been renamed to Community. The Community tab is where content from all your connections and the people you follow will appear.
- Discover: Lastly, the new Discover tab is where Snap’s original programs will be slotted.
We’re exploring ways to streamline navigation across Snapchat, soliciting feedback from our community to inform future versions of our app. This test’s UI offers more space to innovate and increases the opportunity to engage with and discover even more of what Snapchat has to offer,” a Snap spokesperson told
